Energy Saving Tips for the Garden

If you have a small or irregularly shaped lawn, consider switching from an electric or diesel mower to an old fashioned hand-powered cylinder mower.  Not only are they cheap (and cost nothing to run) but you will probably be surprised how much little extra effort they require.
If you need power in the garden for lighting, water pumps etc, try using solar chargers to operate them.
Can you do without some of your other power tools, by using shears instead of an electric hedge trimmer for example?  Apart from the energy you’ll save, gardening the old fashioned way is a great way to keep fit.
Do without that patio heater, especially if its gas powered.  Put on an extra sweater, or switch to a wood burning alternative.
